Step Up 2: The Streets ( E )

Genre: Music/Drama
Cast: Briana Evigan, Robert Hoffman
Directed by Jon Chu
A tribute to the streets. While "The Fast and The Furious" and "NFS Underground" brought out the elements of underground/night racing, this movie brings out the underground features of the dance arena. Drama quotient in the movie is very less and it was never meant to be that way. It is just a simple movie that should be enjoyed by all the dance enthusiasts.
A bunch of youngster dancing away to their rhythm opened my mouth in surprise during several sequences. Hands down to these guys. The dance numbers are primarily Hip-Hop tunes. The concentration is also on the Hip-Hop scene but "Salsa" also hops in for a small ride. The Hip-Hop numbers are simply cool.
The director wanted to bring in the angle of the-rise-of-the-downtrodden but it never worked that way. It is dance all the way. Watch it if you wanna dance.
