The Great Debaters ( E )

Cast: Denzel Washington, Nate Parker, Jurnee Smollet, Denzel Whitaker, Forest Whitaker
Directed by Denzel Washington
A movie directed by Denzel himself. A true story about a debate team going up to the levels of Harvard University to compete there during the turbulent period of 1930's when the "Blacks" were considered to be lower. The movie tries to complicate itself with a communist angle and the ensuing issues. But since it is based on a true story such matters need to be considered.
While the movie doesn't try to be something that gains momentum as it goes on and cling on to the audience, but it goes on a steady roll giving us time to take in what is happening on the screen.
Acting by all the patrogonist was truely amazing. Now, coming to Denzel Washington. It was a real treat to watch Denzel directing himself. He has brought himself pretty well. Especially when he exudes his happiness through his eyes. Marvelous.
For serious movie watchers
