There were two reasons why I went for this movie. One was because of the spot this movie achieved to gain in the Rosebowl's LIST MANIA in the category of "Best Editing". And the second was that I had recently seen the astounding locale of interior Brazil in the movie "Incredible Hulk" and I wanted to know how it was to live in those areas. The movie keeps me happy regarding that matter.
Getting down to the movie, it is based on a true story. The movie is filled with violence, drugs and sexual content. But don't get away because of this. Just like the book, the entire movie is chapterized with the title always hinting on what is going to happen next. It deals with the rise of two gangsters, one by obsession and the other by fate. Caught up in between all this is the poor calculating soul, Rocket, who aspires to be a photographer some day. The movie doesnt keep one on the edge of the seat, it just shows what happens and has happened in the quarters of Rio De Janiero.
The climax has one of the best shootouts shot exquisitely. The movie is worth a watch
