Genre: Crime/Drama
Cast: Benicio Del Toro, Michael Douglas, Don Cheadle, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Dennis Quaid and many more
Based on the mini-series Traffik
Directed by Steven Soderbergh
3 parallel stories.
1. Mexican police-drug cartel-general-corruption angle.
2. A drug lord busted and the consequences.
3. A Anti-Narcotics head finds that his daughter is heavily into drugs.
Mixing all this into a feature film in such a manner that the audience gets an idea as to what is happening onscreen is a tough job. Such stuff falling into the wrong hands can go absolutely wrong. That is where the guy who is an expert in dealing with a mega cast and a mega story comes in. Steven Soderbergh. He uses his talent beautifully. And it is because of that that this movie has turned out to be a great movie.
Coming to the acting details. Benicio Del Toro is just amazing. Just watching him perform is a consolation. WOW!!!
The background score is on a minimum level in this one. Occasionally it goes up but returns to the zero level all of a sudden.
Not a masterpiece, but a must watch.
